The LIVE LOCAL SCAM

The LIVE LOCAL ACT—sponsored by Vicki Lopez as a State Representative and passed by the State Legislature in 2023—is a gift to developers. The law allows them to bypass our zoning laws, supersede historic preservation boards, and build huge high-rises in low-rise neighborhoods; all under the false promise of "affordable housing." But a tiny 300 square foot unit priced at 120% of the area median income is hardly affordable.

We know for a fact that affordable housing can be achieved WITHOUT building big high-rises that strain our infrastructure, worsen traffic congestion, and increase evacuation times during hurricanes. We can use our current zoning, provide tax exemptions and credits to incentivize development of naturally occurring affordable housing (NOAH), and build on vacant land not currently designated for parks or public services.

Municipalities across Florida have begun resisting this horrendous law. As your County Commissioner, Rob will seek ways to do the same and protect our quality of life.
